Calorie-Burning Sports You Should Be Playing If You Want to Get in Shape

When it comes to burning calories and losing weight, gym time is absolutely essential but there are many people, myself included, who just don’t enjoy a gym workout and instead prefer something else to burn our calories. It is for this reason why so many people opt to get involved ins porting activities in order to shift the weight and burn those calories and have fun whilst doing so. If you are sick of the gym and want to get active in another way, here are some of the best sports which you can do that will incinerate those calories.

Squash

On average a game of squash will burn between 750 and 900 calories per hour, an incredible amount of calories in such a short space of time. The reason for the high calorie burn is the level of activity which is involved in squash as you run at high speed across the court. Squash is a relentless and brutal game that will leave you extremely tired but ensure that you have had an excellent work out.

Swimming

Swimming is a fantastic option for exercise as it is low impact and it aids almost every muscle in the body. Swimming can also burn up to 550 calories too if you are prepared to treat it as exercise rather than just gently swimming. Swimming fast is a great way to get a work out and it will get you in shape in no time at all.

Soccer

Soccer is one of the biggest calorie burners amongst ball sports and you could burn up to 750 calories per hour if you are playing competitive soccer. Aside from the great benefit that you get from the exercise of soccer, you will also be able to get involved in a competitive and highly fun sport that will help you lose weight in no time.

Running

There is nothing wrong with running on a treadmill in the gym, but it can become highly monotonous if you plan on running for any great length of time. This is why you should instead, go running on a track or outdoors in order to get a great work out which will most certainly not be boring. Running regularly is great for your health and could see you burning up to 600 calories per hour.

Roller Blading

If you are able to roller blade without falling over then you could use this sport to burn an incredible 700 calories per hour. This sport not only requires your balance and strong legs, but also a firm upper body and good arm strength. Naturally the amount of calories that you burn will  largely depend on how fast you go but if you are ready to put the work in, you could easily shed the weight and get your body in great shape.

If you are bored of the gym, why not try one of these sports to get those pounds off!
